AFA Safety
Committee Update:
"REPORTING MATTERS"
Following the implementation of increased job responsibilities, your AFA-CWA Safety committee has been receiving more requests for assistance on safety, health and security issues. We are all aware of the sacrifice of safety to get aircraft out on time. Gate agents lining passengers up on the jetway while flight attendants do safety checks, gate agents closing doors prior to bags and overhead bins being stowed and verified, dirty aircraft, checking numerous bags at the gate blocking exits, and abuse of flight attendants.
While there is no quick fix to the ongoing problems it is critical to document ALL incidents that occur. DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT. If you do not document, the incident did not occur. If we do not have written data, we cannot take action to solve problems.
We can only resolve problems with your written reports. Together we can make a difference.
To make your documentation easier we are including the attached AFA-CWA Cabin Safety Report. This form will simplify your report and can be e-mailed to your AFA Air Safety, Health and Security Committee or put in our v-files if you are DTW or FLL based. Unfortunately we do not have representatives in LGA, ACY or SJU, so online reporting is preferred. Please remember your AFA safety committee representatives are volunteers who work the same schedule you do. Please, contact us about any safety, health and security issues you encounter while flying the line.
