Apparently flight attendants are having a hard time getting a hold of someone from the In-flight department, specifically supervisors after hours. There was a MRM dated July 1, 2009 that stated if you cannot reach anyone during business hours, to contact crew scheduling and they will call whomever is “on call” that day.
So, if you have an emergency or unusual situation and need help here are a few suggestions:
- Call your supervisor. If no one is home, call crew scheduling (now you have a taped conversation). If they call you back, great! If not, call the union because we have a problem.
- Keep the captain informed as to what is happening.
- Have an eye witness with you at all times.
- Take names. Names of gate agents, operations, or any individual(s) you asked to help and they did nothing.
- Write a detailed report to the company and to the union.
We want to know if you are NOT getting the support you are supposed to have 24/7. How many times have you been told “we are a 24/7, 365 operation”? Well, then WE had better have the support 24/7, 365. Not normal business or banking hours.
Let’s all do as instructed and see what happens.
