BE VIGILANT

With the recent course of events regarding the attempted hijacking of an Aero Mexico's flight out of Cancun, we are asking you to be more vigilant.  This means to activate what we have all been trained to do and should be doing each time we are working.

  • Gently "check-out" each passenger.  Watching for nervousness, avoidance, no eye contact, sweating profusely, agitated, etc.

  • Have another flight attendant confirm your observations/suspicions.

  • Report ANY suspicious activity or observations immediately to the Lead and Captain.

  • DO NOT take any chances.

  • Best to be sure and secure.

We should be doing this every time we are working a flight.  However, with the unreasonable pressure from the company to (foolishly w/o the proper manpower & original on time departures) strive for 20-30 minute turns, this sometimes is forgotten.

Get back to basics. Remember our first and foremost reason for our jobs - the safety and security of passengers and crew. Take your time and do your job well. There is not much a 20 or 30 minute turn will do for you at 35,000. Do it right and do it right the first time.

Situational Awareness: knowing what is happening around you at all times and adjusting to meet the change(s).
