Association of Flight Attendants

Working together creates a better Union & place to work!

CONFIDENTIALITY AND YOUR RIGHTS

Recently, there has been an increase in violations regarding your right to confidentiality.  You have the right that the company will exercise complete confidentiality regarding your employee file, personal information, health/medical information and anything of a disciplinary nature.  Well, that’s not quite happening.  There seems to be a “leak” in the In-flight management team.  Several flight attendants have discovered that their personal/confidential  information is being given to other flight attendants and as well as open discussions have transpired in the crew rooms detailing discipline issues.  This is a huge violation of your right to confidentiality.

Should you discover or have knowledge of situations where anyone’s personal information was given out or discussed in public venues, we need to know ASAP.  Please send a detailed report to the MEC President.  Please be assured that your name will be redacted (removed) and NO retaliatory actions will be levied against you by the company.  This is a serious violation and has the potential to endanger a fellow flight attendant, should personal information fall into the wrong hands.  Not to mention the company will be held responsible, should it be discovered the information came from management.

IT MUST BE STOPPED.  AND IT MUST BE STOPPED NOW.

I don’t know about you, but I do not want anyone from management discussing or giving out my personal & confidential information to ANYONE.  Period.

P.S.  It is also inappropriate for any flight attendant to make an inquiry into another’s personal & confidential information.  If this should occur, please report to any Union EAP representatives immediately.

Please send your incident reports to deb4afa@hotmail.com.

Privacy is protected by the law.  Do the right thing.
